I develop what is known as molecular markers which will allow you to know if a plant has a genetic trait that you are looking for (like disease resistance, high flowering rate, more fruits than normal). This will allow us to cross plants that carry desired traits for plant breeding and create better quality plants. Our ultimate aim is to increase oil palm tree production while maintaining the amount of land planted with oil palm (land becoming scarce, so we can't keep on planting more and more).
