| Streamyx problems: What else is new eh |
So here's the deal. Once activated streamyx was working fine until yesterday.
The issue that occurs is that once I launch the connection and connect everything is fine and dandy, but about an hour later the connection goes dead. I cannot disconnect either streamyx or the lan connection, I can't open the connection for streamyx (it just flashes for a split second and vanishes but the icon is still in the taskbar). Manually shutting off/unplugging modem doesn't change this.
On top of this I strangely lose access to my volume control as well.
The only way I've found to resolve this is to reset and then reconnect. No problems until an hour later where the process repeats. Ram did some tweaks and I ran my antivirus but nothing changed. Only happened yesterday so I'm hoping some line anomaly is causing this........ |

| Streamyx and stuff |
So I wrote a rather long post and then lost it all only to discover that blogger saved a million drafts but that all the drafts are a small fraction of my post. I can check them all and delete and have to do it one by one which is though considering my office have gayer internet speeds than my Celcom 3G.
Anyways, I got my phoneline activated yesterday and am supposed to call the streamyx people to deliver my modem to the shop today morning. Its just the modem with disc and I do the rest myself. I'm paying RM110 per month for 1mbps with the line rental rolled in as a package. I don't know if I'm getting a raw deal, but anyone know of any other decent packages since its not too late to change it up. RM140 for 2mbps and RM160 for 4mbps. I don't really mind paying the RM160 for 4mbps (its again the package which includes line rental).
Any suggestions? Advice? Thoughts on the rates/fees |

Not much going on with me. Its Wednesday morning and I may have a meeting with some people today, and a lunch with some old friends from college.
We had a staff meeting yesterday, and the only consistent thing with our staff meetings is that they always rob me of my will to live, its like hara-kiri inducing.
I suppose its been awhile since I went on a full-on bitch rant about work so here's the score.
There are employee grades with the lowest being E1 and then it goes on to E2 and so forth. I have been occupying an E2 position since I joined but am getting paid on an E1 scale. Now I'm supposed to get absorbed as permanent staff and my boss wants to absorb me as an E1 instead of an E2. I am naturally pissed off because I have been performing at the second highest rating you can get here and the stupid shit wants me to be an entree level employee.
To make matters worse, this fat-ass, penghulu-type lawyer from Muar came in here a year ago as an E3, and he is completely useless. The fucker does jack shit compared to me, he is stupid, he is lacking in all manner of decorum and social skills, everyone hates him, he sucks at what he does,....but guess what!!!!!! He gets to be E3 and I now I'm starting to feel that its because he's malay. The bastard makes 10k a month and my boss wants me to basically do the work of someone of a higher rank, pick up the slack for this fuckhead and get paid peanuts.
As you can imagine, fuming mad would be an understatement for how I feel right now, but I am avoiding dealing with it simply because I don't want to unload my caustic tongue and go trigger happy here. Once I've calmed down I am going to talk to her and the head of the legal division if I have to and see how it goes.
Naturally I am also looking for other jobs, but I've been a bit slack since I've been working. However I have been a good boy in that I have not been looking for alternative employment during office hours. I suddenly don't feel like being good anymore though. I did apply to the Securities Commission along with some other places, so I'm just waiting to see how it goes.
The cherry on top of my sundae of pain is that we have to prepare a house. This house is basically a house shaped diagram on the legal department, our department specifically. Its supposed to be on how to make ourselves the best, which means what steps are we going to take to make ourselves the best finance lawyers. However my boss has decided that this is not going to be the way we do it (she hates change and technology) so I ask her is it going to be the steps we take or what services we perform (i.e. scope of work) and she says neither, its how we position ourselves as service providers.
Of course positioning yourselves means what you do for your clients, i.e. a MOTHERFUCKING SCOPE OF WORK FUCKING HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So we need to spend all this time drawing a diagram that serves no function whatsoever, to conver information that is basically in the department scope of work. Must drink the blood of the innocent!!!!!
The only silver lining I hate is that I can leave this place (Oh god I hope I don't suddenly find that I'm unemployable and that I can't get a visa either)., oh and my Xbox 360
So I'm playing Lost Oddyssey now and what can I say, I love Seth Balmore, everytime I see her I just want to run my fingers down her back. It's a nice game but way too much loading. Even when a fight starts and the camera pans it siezes up a bit because of loading. I like the part with the dreams in animated text form, they're very well done.
Also playing Viking and that is satisfying my God of War lust right now. Its pretty cool, you basically run around killing undead and accomplshing objectives (find this, kill this) and rescuing your viking brothers. Then once you've accomplished some objectives and rescued enough soldiers you can launch and assault on an enemy base. Its pretty cool to attack a place with your vikings backing you up. The combo system is nowhere near as good as God of War or Devil May Cry, but this is definitely a damn good game.
I've rearranged my apartment furniture and got some new stuff. Only thing left is maybe another cabinet and possibly a bigger monitor with PC Fair coming this Friday. So if you guys want to come over one weekend feel free.
Are there any movies worth watching now? I was thinking Water Horse, but to be honest, nothing is out that I think I should watch in the cinema. |

hahaha. well, i dunno i should be happy or not about this, but my current lab will stop its operation in 2 months time. hhahaa. we r currently researching and cloning on several spesies of timbers but in actual fact, erm....let me just put that spesies A is our main crop, that is our target. since they do not want to plant A anymore for timber production due to various drawbacks, the company decided to shut down the lab after nearly 4 years of operation. but i m not too sure about this, the company can still direct to clone and research on other species. but they dont. sigh,....could b a reason to shut down the lab since our hq is in sibu and most of the plantations are from sibu, i guess it's a good idea to move us to sibu. yup, u heard me right, they r not going to terminate us, thank god...but they are going to allocate us to other companies base on our expertise. by saying so, we bet that the chances of us being transferred to sibu is almost certain, hahahah. honestly, i dun feel like going to sibu. i have interviewed for a job and m waiting for their reply. i was told that i they accepted me, but still waiting for my job description. hahaha. hmm.............well, wish me luck ^^ or i can go kl to look for job ^^
i will miss this place !!!! too many darn nice food!!! on the bright side, i can get into diet again ^^. but sibu is another horrendous place....not that the place is really bad, it's the food!!! cheap, delicious and big!!! darn.......how to diet. |

| On the PSP |
Ok here is a quick guide on the PSP for those of you curious/planning to buy.
1) Firmware - your PSP will come with hacked firmware if you buy it in Malaysia. You can even do it yourself if you get an original .. if you screw up you'll end up bricking your PSP (PSP = brick). I've done a firmware update myself so it's not hard , you just have to make sure you don't drop the PSP halfway through flashing your BIOS :p
2) Games - PSP games sells for about RM5 (In KL areas) to RM 10 (a bit ulu places). They are basically just an image ripped off the original UMD's. Anyone with an original game UMD can rip out games and share them. You can just download them off torrents or go to www.pspisoz.com for direct Megaupload downloads. There are 2 main file formats for the PSP - *.iso and *.cso. CSO format is smaller that ISO ( CSO - CompressedISO) .. there is absolutely no reason to get games in ISO format if the CSO version exists simply because CSO saves you lots of space without any apparent downsides ( i've heard someone say that the battery life will be reduced when running CSO instead of ISO but tests I've done shows that the difference is negligable). If you get a PSP i can just burn the games into a DVD and you can transfer them onto the PSP when you feel like playing it.
3) Homebrew softwares - There are lots of homebrew softwares out there which are basically user made softwares as opposed to Sony made ones. As long as you get them from a reputable site with people saying that it didnt harm their PSP , they are safe for use. You can add programs that allow you to turn your PSP into a calculator, PDF reader, Skype, MSN and so on. I only use the PDF reader at the moment .. it's quite handy when you don't have enough time to catch up on your reading and such.
4) Battery Life - If you play the PSP with maximum volume and maximum brightness the battery life will be around 3.5 - 4.0 hours. With moderate setting (this will be the one you use normally) it should last you around 4.0 - 5.5 hours. When you use low brightness and headphones you can get 6 - 7 hours out of a fully charged battery. Oh yeah, playing games use up battery faster than watching movies or listening to MP3s.
