Why is it so ? I don't really get it ....
Every year I wait with bated breath for the magical transition from one year to another but as the seconds pass from 11:59:59 to 12:00:00 .. nothing happens !
Where is the feeling that something important has just happened ?
Guess I have never been psyched up enough .. maybe that is what the liquor is for huh ....

Another Friday dawns , as I sleepily shuffle to my lab the only thing in my mind (besides girls) is to go back home to Seremban to get HOME COOKED food !
You never really appreciate your mom's cooking until you are stuck in some sad campus with really-really sad food stuff .... sigh ... getting hungry allready.
Don't you just hate it when you go somewhere and eat stuff and ,unbidden, the thought that "damn , mom can do this meal so much better" pops into your head. Totally gets you craving for food again ...
hmm... maybe that is why i'm putting on weight.

| Whee ... Go Karting Rocks |
Just came back from Christmas holidays, back in my parents house. Went to a sports resort called Eagle Ranch in Port Dickson (Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia). Woweee ... fun
Of course as usual I have my gripes about stuff like the quality of the accomodation and stuff like that but lets skip that and go straight to what I thought the highlight of the place was .. the Go Karts. Fun ! It was my first time on a Go Kart ... man I love the speed :P , of course having played Gran Tourismo for as long as I have I managed to really push the karts and started to slide into corners ... read : Drifting ... legally :) with no cops to issue summonses. Some of my more adventerous cousins like Vinoth and Siva totally spun out a few times , man these dudes were crazy , one guy actually spun out once and as he tried to recover spun again and ended facing the wrong direction. God , it was fun.
Watching the girls (my cousins) on the kart was even funnier :P .. (ducks for cover) , of course my cousin Kavi can drive quite well . HE he .. cant wait to see the video cam recording. Ok then , I'll post something tommorow if my internet line in my other place is ok.

Yep .. I'm back ...
I am not dead or abducted by aliens or spotted in some cafe with Elvis. The reason for my temporary 'dissapearance' is simply .. an act of god.
You see , somewhere up there god must have read my blog and realised that it is a pile of junk and nothing more. The QC angels were screaming for blood , citing that my blog gives a bad impression on all the other more 'interesting' blogs. With a mighty wave of his hand, he sent a lightning bolt from the heavens. The bolt flew true and hit my phone line with vengeance ... the modem / router died and so did Sai's computer. Somehow mine survived .... but crippled without an internet connection. Perhaps it was gods test or perhaps a fluke , we will never know. Suffice to say ... I am without net.
Just got a new modem .. but since it's the end of the year I am going for a family retreat/ gathering so I might not be able to post anything for a few days. Be patient .... I WILL BE BACK

It appears that some four meddlesome kids have launched lawsuit against Warlock, citing misappropriation of private property and copyright violation.
The four Pevensie kids, Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter, claimed that Warlock has made use of their "clothing storage apparatus/extra-dimensional doorway" without their permission and at this moment is still misusing the said 'item'.
"I was suppose to be the first to enter! Since I have to act cute and everything, the least they could do for me, is let me have the most screen time." said young Lucy, eyes filled with tears.
The two older siblings, Peter and Susan appear more angry than distraught.
"I have a sword and I am not afraid to use it!" said Peter with feeling.
"Hah! At least you got to lead an army in the movie. All I got to shoot was one lousy goblin." - Susan said, heft her mean looking bow.
"I think it was a dwarf...." Edmund piped and received a glare for his trouble.
Not everyone however is unhappy with the current situation. A current female monarch who wishes to remain anonimous claims that Warlock is a much better guest than Pevensies.
"At least, he isn't trying to KILL me or topple the current governing body."
The Flora and Fauna of the contested realm are still at a lost about their latest uninvited guest. The root of their dilemma apparently stems from the debate on whether he is a son of Adam. Although Warlock apparently has a guise of a homo sapien, his Cocobear persona clearly has them confused.
Either way, it is highly doubtful that the elusive Warlock will hide here for long now that this place has garnered so much attention. |

It has five days since Warlock has gone missing. The worst is feared. Will we ever see you again? Fear not, I will take care of your loved ones in your place. Particularly the girl... cough..
Other news today include a report that it appears that MAS, our local airline has decided to increase its fares once again, bringing it to record heights.
On Nov 1, MAS increased its fares to the United States by between 48% and 167% resulting in its fares being the most expensive among regional airlines on this lucrative route. It used to be the cheapest.
Imagine paying three times what you use to pay... totally ridiculus.
A spokesman for the airline confirmed the increase and said the revision was “necessary to mitigate increasing costs”.
Yeah, right.
"MAS reported a net loss of RM648mil for the first six months of the year and analysts are predicting the airline would post losses of RM792mil for the full year.
For next year, they have changed their projections from a net profit of RM211mil to a net loss of RM112mil. "
If they keep doing this no one will take their planes and then they will end up with a total loss.

It seems that there has been a rumoured sighting of men in HazMat suits taking Warlock into custody.
Could this be the reason for his disappearance? Did Warlock contract some sort of Cordellia Virus and was taken in by the authorities for quarantine?
Just how reliable are these rumours, since there have been other reports of Warlock sightings, even one, ridiculus as this may seem, of him going to the Pasar Malam and buying a piece of pie!

The translation is pioneering in its accessibility, and changes the original Greek and Hebrew nomenclature into modern nicknames.
St. Peter becomes "Rocky," Mary Magdalene becomes "Maggie," Aaron becomes "Ron," Andronicus becomes "Andy" and Barabbas becomes "Barry."
In keeping with the times, translator Henson deftly translates "demon possession" as "mental illness" and "Son of Man," the expression Jesus frequently used to describe himself, as "the Complete Person." In addition, parables are rendered as "riddles," baptize is to "dip" in water, salvation becomes "healing" or "completeness" and Heaven becomes "the world beyond time and space."
Here's how Williams, the top Anglican archbishop, describes the new Bible: "Instead of being taken into a specialized religious frame of reference – as happens even with the most conscientious of formal modern translations – and being given a gospel addressed to specialized concerns … we have here a vehicle for thinking and worshipping that is fully earthed, recognizably about our humanity."

| Kitsune and DOTA |
Played DOTA today. Too bad I had to cancel the 2nd session for tonight ... got a nice sounding from my dad :P .... sheezh , he seems to get the impression that playing DOTA at the cybercafe is bad. He doesn't realize that it is a team playing game which forces you to use your brains. The funny thing is if I had gone out and played football or something like that he would have cheered me on, just because I choose to exercise my brains instead of my muscles I get a sounding. He was probably in one of his bad moods .. Nevermind , there are always other DOTA sessions.
Those of you who had watched Naruto either in anime form or manga form would realise that the term kitsune means 'fox' in Japanese. Sai had a post about some of the creatures in Japanese mythology which was highlighted in Naruto : (http://cocobear80.blogspot.com/2005/11/naruto.html)

| Narnia |
I ventured forth into the realm of Narnia today. It totally blew my mind ... it's been a long time since I watched something that i liked so much (well, Harry Potter was weeks ago :P )
Superb acting by all the cast , especially from Georgie Hanley. I find that the best visual delight in the movie wasn't the beautiful scenes (they were beautiful) , or the CGI scenes (great !) but the light in the face of little Lucy Pevensie (Georgie Hanley) as she experiences the wonders of Narnia.
A superb must watch movie for anyone. Too sleepy , need to crawl to bed now .. sorry .. will write more when brain starts to work .

| Valen at Ipoh |
After reading what r6p write about Aeron Kwok is at Ipoh. I found out that Valen Hsu is in the movie they shooting now. Even better is that she is at Ipoh recently to shoot some of the film. As you can see she is not some perfect being that r6p mention. But I like her song and her voice (Listen to Still Loving You now).
On the picture valen is in the car and learning how to drive a Malaysia car that have total opposite driving direction compare to Taiwan design. After 30 minutes she finally make it. Drive the car about 50 feet in distance. Aeron is so worry until he come out and shout at the people outside " give some space! she doesn't know how to drive!" Phew! no injuries or death report that day so I guess Valen does pass the driving test. |

| What is AD&D |
It came as a surprise to me when I found out that many people do not know what AD&D is. Some people messaged me on MSN Messanger to ask me what the hell was I talking about. I will try to explain it to those of you who have never heard of it.
AD&D stands for Advanced Dungeons and Dragons and it refers to a game. Not a computer ones but one that involves pen, paper and a lot of imagination. To help you visualise the game, imagine playing a game of snakes and ladders. Now change the gameplay a bit so that when you roll a dice you don't dont just go automatically to the higher numbers, instead have the players choose which route to take in order to reach the goal. Next, add in random monsters, traps and treasures for the players to encounter. After that (you can see the game is beginning to get more complex) lets make the small counter that you move around in Snake & Ladders into a 'character' which represents the players. Lets give it numerical values which determine how tough it is and how well it can fight, to make each player different lets make them roll dices to determine the starting statistics for these 'characters'. Starting to get an inkling of how the game works now ?
Now for my favourite part, REMOVE the board .. yes remove it, replace it with a Dungeon Master (DM .. nothing to do with S&M .. shame on you ) . This is the referee that mediates and tell you where you are in the board. As you move 'through' the board (now we can call it a dungeon) the DM will describe what you see and hear and feel .. it is up to you to decide what to do and how to escape the 'dungeon'.
Here is how you play snake and ladders :
You roll a dice . It shows six pips , with a grin you move your token 6 sqares across the board touching a ladder which leads you to a higher lane.
Here is how AD&D works :
First you make your characters and roll up the stats such as Strength , Constitution, Dexterity, Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma ...
DM : Ok guys, you find yourself in a dark dank prison, your bonds have become frayed as you have been wearing it on a sharp jagged rock on the floor. Make a Strength roll ..
Warlock : Rolls a 20 sided dice and ends up with a 6
Siriuz : Gets a 18
Sai : Gets a 10
DM : With a great shout both siriuz and sai escape from the ropes binding them. Warlock tries to break free but fails .
Warlock : Er.. guys , some help here ...
Sai : An elf asking for help ? From a dwarf ? Huh ...
Siriuz : Enough of that , we have to stick together if we are to escape (To dungeon master) I assist Warlock
DM : Make a Strength roll
Siriuz : Rolls a 10
DM : You helped Warlock free now the three of you look around you and find yourself in a room with two possible exits ... one is through the door and another through a tunnel-like hole in the eastern wall.
Together : We go out thorugh the door
DM : As you exit the room , your eyes slowly acclimatize to the darkness and you start to see more details ... you find yourself in some sort of ancient ruins . How you got here is a question that you have no answer for at the moment. Your memory remains cloudy.
Warlock : I want to check around for anything that we may use
DM : (Makes some rolls) You find nothing much ( Then he rolls some more dices .. making everyone nervous)
Sai : Gulp ...
DM : SUDDENLY , WITHOUT WARNING ! The entire southern walls collapse and you find yourself face to face with some sort of a giant burrowing earth-worm. Roll for initiative and start making attack rolls ...

Needless to say without items and proper teamwork the adventurers ended up as nothing more than an entree for the worm thingy ...
In a game of AD&D (or D&D) you are expected to role-play the character that you create. For example if you create a dwarven warrior with extremely high strength but low wisdom and intelligence you are expected to play-act the role , so even if you are intelligent and wise you are expected to make some pretty dumb moves ... like starting a fight in a bar when you are outnumbered 20 to 1 :P (and probably dying after that). Usually the setting for the worlds in which the adventure takes place is like in any high-fantasy novels (Lord Of The Rings style would do )
Well I could write more and sell the idea to you but i think Siriuz will do more justice to it so I shall attempt to persuade him to write more on the topick . It would be more fun if I CAN ACTUALLY find other people to play AD&D with :P

| Sai's Birthday |
We 'celebrated' Sai's birthday today. More like we celebrated as he was left to moan over the bill :P
Had dinner in some Chinese restaurant, got to try a new dish 'Herbal Chicken' I think. It's basically chicken cooked in a concoction of herbal stuff ... as the chicken is left to soak in the herbal juices for a long time, it was really, really soft and tasted quite nice as it soaked up the taste of the herbs. The food presentation was nice also (well, as long as you remember that it was in your average Chinese restaurant without air-cond read : non-posh place) where the chicked was placed in a foil that (in my opinion) was shaped to look like .. well .. a chicken. Here see for yourself ..  
(The foil does look like a bird right ? It isn't just me imagining things, right ? ) Well, as usual at the first look at the cake my stomach switched off all 80 neurons in my brains and took over. Result : No picture of cake :P What I do have is a picture of the second slice of cake which I had ... (which I could take because my brain was partially functioning again ... damn my stomach )

| AD&D |
 Hokkaido is doing some promation on the Chrismas event and guess what. You can meet doraemon and his friends on a train. Although I actually quite old to be a doraemon fan but who cares. I want to be on the this train too.
Despite on what warlock say in the previous post. I just want to add in some detail in our game. From what classes the team make of (a fighter, ranger and a mage) not really a good combination of a D&D team and this might give the DM more chances to torture us. But hey this is what the funs are.
Well I can see warlock a bit sad of being ignore in the first day of our journey but I quite sure that will change in the later adventure. Is just that now is not his showtime yet. I still remember I read it somewhere about how to build a mage type character. Mage actually very rely on a or a few teammates that can become a tank (fighter or barbalian) for him while he stay behind to cast some powerful spell (become a siege weapon he is). Seeing a fighter have a weak will save to againts any mind affecting spell. Mage just have to make up to that.

Did nothing much today. Read a book, typed up some crap for my thesis :P (don't we all) and played some game. Keep on having nightmares of our last DOTA game where we got pawned ... the game went something like this :
Me : Guys , lets all team up and go kick some ass !
Team member 1 : Ya , dude ...
Team member 2 : Look there is only one person guarding the tower .. the fools !!!
Team member 3 : I m da bomb. All your base are belong to us ! Can I get some weed ?
20 seconds later
Me : Guys, what happened ? I thought we had him outnumbered 4 to 1 ? Are we all dead ?
(Team members in various stages of convulsion)
(Computer spews up stuff like : OWNING ! The Sentinel's Are Winning and crap like that as we stare at the screen in disbelief since we are all DEAD)
Man , did we get our collective asses whuupped O_0 until now i had no idea what happened.
Need to practice more ...... so I have a good excuse to keep todays entry short. It's for your own good that I am keeping today's entry short. Here is the logic :
1) I get to spend time practicing DOTA
2) which leads to me NOT getting my ass handed to me on a platter the next time I go play
3) keeping me in a good mood so that I have something to write after I come back from a DOTA session
4) Which in turn keeps you all happy because there will be something to be read when you visit this page
5) Which keeps you sane and avoids suicidal tendencies that tends to crop up due to dissatisfaction
6) Which keeps me happy since I love to see the site counter go up ever so slowly ...
7) .. which in turn stops me from becoming a crazed psychopath who goes around killing people.
8) Which isn't really that bad but for the fact that you might be the one killed by me .. and the police will probably end up putting lots of holes in me
9) .. which leads to lead poisoning and gives me problems with fluid retention ...
10) Which destroys the environment and makes both me and you unhappy

| People You Meet In Cyber Cafes |
I just love to grab a few friends, go to the cyber cafe and play games like Warcraft III/DOTA, Counter Strike and such. It's really fun until monsters show up and ruin your day ...
1) The TK-n00b
Noobs : a slang for newbie. This is the one of those people that are totally new to the game and end up costing you the game because they are totally inexperienced. Not really problem, being a noob isn't bad. Everyone starts as one. Even losing is cool as long as the n00b understands his position and tries to better himself. A good noob should be going like " Guys, I don't think I can handle this. I need some backup" and after the match should go " So, where did I go wrong ? How should I play next time ? " Every now and then, you end up meeting a Team Killer-Noob (TKN). You see, TKNs are the noobs that , when they play Counter Strike, shoot their teammates as soon as they completed buying their weapons. You pause the game and explain that when the game starts, your entire team starts at the same point and he shouldn't shoot them. THIS IS NOT HALF-LIFE, YOU HAVE A TEAM , you scream at him. He smiles sheepishly as you restart the game upon which he proceeds to buy a para-machine gun and shoots everybody down because " he panicked when he saw movement, and he didn't know how to stop shooting". He also lobs in a grenade when the 4 members of your team have a single weaponless terrorist cornered, causing all of you and the bad guy to die. As you slump in your seat in resignation you will probably see him going " I got him, I got him .. did you see that ? Huh ? Did you ?" A variation of this would be the Ultra Team Killer Noob would do and say the same thing but with an added " I totally own ! I am GOD ! "
2) Cheaters
These kind of players are regarded as the scum of the earth amongst the multiplayer community. These are the lard-asses that copy in some map-hack files and stuff and use it to blatantly cheat and win. They use maphacks to look through walls , you will normally realise this when you are playing Counter Strike (CS) , you are sitting in a room and suddenly you are dead with no idea where the sniper was ... later after dying like 20 times in a row to similar situation you realise that you've been shot through the wall all the time. When you look at the perps screen you'll see that he is using a cheat.
3) Crap Ass Lamers
These guys are crappy at a game. They are so crap that the local sewage treatment authorities are out looking for him . When he plays normal games at home, he has to constantly cheat ( he calls it tweaking the game) to win. He has probably never ever won a game by himself. Instead of trying to improve himself he just get better and more powerful cheats and thinks he owns big time. These people think that they are good .... damn good.
The problem arises when they play games with you. These are the people who when they play DOTA, rush single handedly at the defence tower. As the defence tower starts shooting him you tell him to pull back .. He goes " I know what I am doing" and continues to rush at it. Probably half way to the tower he dies , giving the opponents gold and experience points. You stare at him with a " what the F*** was that ? " look and he replies " I just wanted to regain my mana points" (presumably by dying and respawning).
These are also the guys that chase an enemy straight into a trap and dies like in 1 seconds while getting a single hit and than claims " Man I was so close to killing him". When you check up the guy that was allegedly so close to dying , you see him running around at almost full life and mocking you ....
4) The Late Ones
These are the guys that come 1 hour later than the pre-agreed time. As you host a new game and wait for them you'll notice that they wont join in. A quick peek at their screen would reveal that they are chatting, checking their e-mails or looking for porn on the net. Sigh ...
5) The Fake-n00b
These are real bastards. They will attempt to join in a game and claim that they are newbies. You explain that you are all just picking up the game and dont want to play against professionals. They assure you that they are new players as well and just want to try playing. You let them join and then you start the game, after which the aforementioned "n00b" goes to pawn everyone , steal kills and uses cheap ungentelmanly tactics on people. Then to rub salt into your wounds they will start to type (in capitals) : " I AM SOO GOOD. YOU PEOPLE SUCK ! they then contined to brag until kicked out .....

| D&D : The Adventure Continues ... |
Today was pretty normal .. meaning I get to consort with my mushroom-ninja-assasins and plan on my next attempt on Siriuz's life, watched 2 episodes of Stargate and finally played some pen and paper RPG :)
The adventures of Warlock Silverbow (the Half-Elf sorceror), Graylin Battlehammer (The Dwarven weaponmaster) and Hagar (The Half-Orc ranger) continues on as they battle evil (sometimes commiting them), get pounded within an inch of their life (seems to happen very often .. need to kill the Dungeon Master) but somehow at the very last minute ultimately turning the tables on the bad guys ... (who always manage to escape and then come back later in the game stronger than before.. sigh)
My cute Tanooki (it's an intelligent racoon that can walk on to legs ...hey it's Dungeons & Dragons, stuff like this happens. He's kind of something like a smarter version of a gremlin) is back also, charming the ladies (and stealing them away from me) and kicking the collective asses of evil (yeah .. right .. when he is not cowering in fear). Go for the eyes Tanooki .. go for the EYES !
Beginning in a Drow prison somewhere in the underdark, the grim reality of prison life sunk in. Being the great leader that i am , I single handedly rescued the entire party from prison .. ( Tanooki goes "Tsk .. tsk .. tsk " as he was the actual rescuer .. ). Then I single handedly rushed and killed off all the guards ( Siriuz the Dungeon Master scratches head and rereads the daily log but can't seem to find any other reference to Warlock doing anything besides keeping out of the way ... ). It was glorious when the damsel in distress ran straight into my arms seeking protection from her cruel torturer ( well , she was actually a succubus - type of demon, and she wasn't even running at me, and yes the guy behind her was torturing her but i daresay she liked it .. go figure) Ah too bad my other party members didn't do much but hey when you have a super mage like me you don't have to worry about anything ( the other party members gang up and beat Warlock until he is unconscious .. Tanooki bites him in the toe)

Yes .. yes ... I know I have been putting up crap for days now. You try to cram in multiple synchronized experiments with writing up your thesis and playing games and lets see what you come up with ... sigh ...

Awww... that was one of the SWEETEST thing that someone has written to me. The sweet thing actually wrote a poem in the middle of her SPM exams. I am so touched ( to the others rading this .. hint .. hint :P )
