The sun had set hours ago, allowing the glory of the moon to shine down upon the forest of her beloved homeland. Despite the endless war being waged between her people and the Scourge, tonight offered a brief respite from the horrors and deaths.
She looked at the taverns where her fellow heroes are currently recuperating and wondered at all the changes that have occurred since she first began her fight. Already, the newly constructed fourth tavern, the Dawn Tavern was slowly being populated.
As one of the earliest in the fight, she, Luna Moonfang was afforded some respect by her peers. After all, the others came in response to her people’s pleas for champions. And so, they came. Some, like Lina Inverse came for the promised reward and bounty, others like Yunero and the troll warlord, came for their pride and a chance to perfect their battle arts.
In all her millenias as a Moonrider, she has never lost faith in her Goddess, never once doubted her guidance, for She has led her into many victories. Tonight, she sensed that her goddess wished to convey a message to her. So, she silently left the festivities in the tavern and went to the hunters glade just outside the city to bask in the moon’s light. “Goddess Elune, your servant is here.” She cried to the heavens. “My daughter, the tides of war come again. You must prepare yourself! Do not fail me.” An inhuman voice rang in her mind. “I hear and obey, mistress.” Luna said obediently.
Just as suddenly as it came, the presence left again. Luna silently went through her thoughts and contemplated her future actions. Not for the first time, Luna wondered somewhere at the back of her mind why the voice of her Goddess sounded like a male... ***
Everyone, at one point or another has wondered about the existence of a higher being. Without doubt, there can be no faith. They are two sides of the same coin. Just like good and evil. One defines the other.
Long, long ago, when I was still a happy innocent church-goer, it seemed as if I would never doubt the word of the Holy Bible. But now, I began to realise that perhaps, the Bible might not be a complete word of God, after all. That Bible probably shouldn't be taken in its literal sense or as license to kill Jews for example.
So, was I being corrupted by the worldly influences of anime and video games because I have not been waking at 8.30 on Sunday to sing hymms or simply because I have become more jaded as I matured(or as my friend put it, ripen, bloated and fermented)?
If you are a Christian and you have not read the Da Vinci Code, you might find the book mildly disturbing. Or not. Since you could always just dismiss the book as the work of evil jews trying to taint Christianity. Or you might just swallow the book, line and sinker, and decide to wage a war of terror against the vatican for trying to cover up the fact that God is a woman. (Ok, so maybe the book didn't really say that...)
From what I know however, the book hovers closely between fact and faction, using many theories and hearsay as fact. Dan Brown (like a certain Jurrasic Park author) apparently chose to use some the most controversial theories in his book and spin them as fact.
Of course, just because the theories he used might not be true doesn't they aren't. It still comes down to one thing... keeping faith. |

Well "The Da Vinci Code" is as mucha work of fiction as the X-Files. The protest by the church is quite simply the heights of stupidity, because it lends an air of credence to this ficticious work. I don't think we saw the U.S. Government launching a public relations blitz to discredit the adventures of Fox Mulder, or NASA scientist. protesting outside "Star Trek" conventions. Hmmmmm....gives me an idea for a post..gimme an hour.
