The desolate ruins spread out before him, the fires have long since died down leaving only smoldering embers desperately feeding on whatever fuel charred wood and stone could provide.
"I do not like this. Something feels wrong." Banehallow said spitting onto a dying flame. “But, we won, didn’t we. And a hard won victory it was.” Bradwarden replied unsure. “So it would seem. But I had feeling that this conflict was more of a test. To see the effectiveness of their new strategies.” The lychanthrope said, his mind going back every detail of the battle. “A victory is a victory. We should count our blessings.” The centaur warchief replied stubbornly.
“And so we should. I am just saying next time won’t quite so ‘easy’,” Banehallow spoke into the darkness, looking at the Dragon Knight still flying high in the night sky, staring down proudly at his handywork.

Ever get that gnawing feeling of dissatisfaction? That question buzzing around you “what if”? I mulled over the results of a Dota against Warlock and his Sandking combo, and I wondered, could we have won if they had tried their best? I went over the game again and again, thinking over various outcomes and things that could have happened.
It seemed inevitable, their chances at victory was probably around 85% to 95%. Different strategies would have totally changed the game, ensuring victory for them at practically every turn.
I felt so down and depressed thinking of how the victory seemed tainted. Then I realized a simple truth. As I pondered the possible outcomes, I had assumed that they did everything right, that they took every precaution, that they made no mistake.
Questions of ‘what if’ are always just that. Were they kicking our butt? Sure. Were our chances of winning so slim that you could use it for a weight loss advert? You bet. But, the thing was even if there was only 1% chance of victory, there was still that 1%. Sai could have gotten RSI, Warlock could have pressed a wrong hotkey 10 ten times in a row, there was always that chance.
Perhaps, Warlock was right and they probably would have won if they had really tried. But I say this, there is no sure thing in life. All our life battles are like that. Sometimes, you just have to push no matter the odds.
P.S. Who says you can’t learn life lessons from DOTA? :) |

There is no such thing as a "we could have won" , it's just excuses we make to make ourselves feel better.

Oh I too know the feeling!! Why oh why did I not buy the Black King Bar (I still wake up screaming this at night....)!!!? I will say this, the right strategy can turn a 1 sided game in your favour. Sometimes its just the team, we're all pretty good, but if the other side has better teamwork they will most likely win. We should have team leaders, whose instructions we actually follow...

u can say dat dota is a funny game. but then again u can learn alotof moral values from dota. never ever give up even though ur enemy has mega creeps and all ur towers has been destroyed n such. wat siriuz say is true there is alwaiz dat 1% chances of winning n anything can happen. so in the words of the legendary eric cantona...Never Give Up My Friends!(oh, he sed never GROW UP... nvm still close)
