Only months after its initial release, Square Enix has announced a new addition to their latest hit, "Final Fantasy XII". Square Enix has not mentioned whether the game, titled "Final Fantasy XII - Revenant Wings", will take place after or before the events of "Final Fantasy XII", and generally very little is known about the story, gameplay or characters (Vaan and Ashe are confirmed to be included). It will be for the Nintendo DS and the game is being produced by "Final Fantasy XII" / SaGa series producer Akitoshi Kawazu, and created by largely the "Final Fantasy XIII" development team. No release date has been planned as of yet.

From some sources back then, i think it happens before FFXII. So my guess is that they wont be meeting Ashe, Fran and others. It's their own story. And the expect something cutesy from this title, since the producer is from SaGa series. No Fran means i m not so keen ^^

Revenant Wings Preview

With the announcement of Final Fantasy XII being released around the world, speculation had been drawn away from the spin-off title, Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings, which will be soon released on the Nintendo DS. The story takes place after the original game and will include characters from the original game as well with other aspects.
Now, Vann is still the main protagonist as well with Penelo, it is just like Penelo has replaced Ashe from her role in the original game, so the relationship between Vann and Penelo will be more viewed and released into the public eye as the game progresses, also other characters like Balthier and Fran will also be playable. Other factors of Final Fantasy XII will be reincarnated into Revenant Wings as well, such as Espers, Toriyama has told the public in a review that Revenant Wings will have more summons than any other game in the Final Fantasy Series.
Their has been a trailer in circulation in the internet community, but Square Enix has removed all essences of these, websites such as YouTube have been caught out and the movies have been deleted from there site. But from what has been seen, just like Final Fantasy X-2, you will start out with an airship from the start and the airship seems to play a big part within the game its self.
Details and information about the battle system had yet to be released, however, it has been told that the stylus part of the DS will play a big part in the system. Also it was told that the game-play has been formatted for people who have never played Final Fantasy before, so the controls and battling monster will be much more easier than before.
The Gambit System will also be back to play a role in the battle system, so this will give the impression that the battle system in Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings may as well be the same as its prequel.
