I think they should at the very least consider the fact that that being born Islam or being raised in an Islamic background doesn't mean you choose to become Islam.
If the person converted to Islam, signed some documents and stuff like that and then wanted to convert I am willing to give the syariah court the benefit of the doubt and have a trial but in this case they are just saying that if you are born Islam , you MUST become Islam , there is no choice for you .. where is the person's right to make a choice ?
This is a very sickening example that shows that love , family, personal belief and freedom to choose your religion is not supported by Islam. However you may want to argue it, the fact is simply that : someone who never chose to become Islam , was forced to it just because their parents are muslims was separated from her husband and child who she loves.
What do the syariah court expect ? She will renounce her husband and marry a muslim man ? I say in this case the syariah court is the marriage breaker.
So what if by legal jargon and mumbu jumbo she is considered an unmarried woman who slept around and got a baby. We all KNOW she married the guy and considers herself his wife and the mother of their child ... what is wrong with that until you need to ruin the marriage ?
Where is the famed "There is no compulsion in Islam" .. I ask the Syariah court to prove that !
Please ask anyone with brains to watch this so they realise that converting to Islam is not a path where you are free to choose , it is a one way street from which there is no return even if you are not happy with the religion. When you convert, you are sealing the freedom to choose and practive a religion for every single person who will be decended from you.

It think saying any religions is beautiful or 'a way of life' is redundant. All religions are a way of life since they involve archaic pratices and a body of people literally telling you how to live your like.
I think religion is like an empty shell, a company with a mission statement but no management or employees. So the standard of any religion can only be determined by looking at the people professing that religion.

I mean if I truly believed that Warlock, Siriuz and Sai would burn in hell for all eternity while being sodomised by Be'elzebub unless they walked into a building once a week, got on their knees and worshipped a giant bearded man in the sky, wouldn't I be motivated to at least try my best to make them do that? (Same in principle as I am now forcing my belief on them), because I care. Well maybe not Siriuz, I think he'd enjoy hell quite a bit.
I'm not particularly against Islam as a religion because I don't think of religion as anything tangible, its just smoke and mirrors that people rely on to give them some semblance of meaning. That's cool. The problem is that any concept of religion involving spiritual blackmail (follow the path or suffer forever in HELL) is bullshit, it leads to this exact same result.
At least in places where the populace is somewhat educated this can be minimised to some extent. however, in Malaysia don't be mislead into thinking that this 'silent majority' are city dwelling, right minded and educated people. The majority ARE THOSE ULU FUCKERS you see in Universities, protests, UMNO, Barisan Nasional.

When my dad remarried and converted when I was in highschool, I told him that I didn't mind if he remarried, but that I would never ever convert, even if that meant getting adopted by one of my uncles. He was smarter, he didn't get either me or rudecrudedude converted and thank god he didn't. A 5% discount on houses isn't worth this shit.
Maybe when I'm 35 they'll come to snatch my children too, or maybe my dead body (don't care about my corpse but I'm pretty sure it would upset the family).
Well whatever it is, at least we're all safe.....for now. These things can only snowball though. It will get worse and worse until somebody arrests this cancer. This doesn't look like its going to happen. So be ready....
