Abaddon was in utter agony. The process of travelling from the realms of hell to the mortal world could be quite grating, even for the Lord of Avernus, the first circle of hell. As the bits of his sinew reassembled in the mortal realm, it was not without a sense of relief that he had finally arrived.
True that he would be aiding the the warriors of light today, but only to corrupt them for he had need of servants in Avernus, and had come here for this very purpose under the wise counsel of Lucifer Lord of the Ninth. Well Abaddon did have to spend a lot of time under Lucifer to obtain this bit of wisdom, but that is another story...
He was brimming with power, as the newfound disciple of the Dark God Magnus, he was blessed with new abilities and unholy strength. As the red haze of bloodlust descended upon him with the first blast of the trumpets of war, he charged into battle. Amid the maddened frenzy of battling troops he met his foe. Barathum was an able warrior, but he had not been a match of Abaddon even before he became a disciple of Magnus.
The Lord of Avernus charged Barathum, dark energies radiating from his body as he recited the horrifying incantations of worship of his God. Surrounded by his Aphotic shield, he was impervious to injury, even from Barathum. Barathum valiantly tried to strike Abaddon down, raining blow after blow down onto the unflinching monster. He realised his dreadful mistake far too late as the Aphotic shield exploded, mortally wounding him and obliterating his army.
Driven by mad with fear, Barathum tried to escape, however futile it was. Many time over had he been sliced by the cursed blade Frostmourne, the blade that could freeze blood and atrophy muscle. Abaddon might have laughed and mocked Barathum as he had done many times in the past, but he was changed, he barely realised that his foe was at his mercy. Zealotous madness had descended upon his mind and body, he had marked Barathum as an infidel to the glory of Magnus. With wild speed and rage that only the truly religious possess, Abaddon slashed Barathum to ribbons.
The battle was over as Abaddon knelt next to the disemboweled Barathum. He feasted on the brains of the fallen hero, chanting dread words of worship as his army too fell prostrate in worship of Magnus. They proclaimed it a miracle as Abaddon healed their other generals with dark magic, a mockery of the arts practiced by the priest of the gods of light.
What must have been months later, Abaddon and his now mighty army swarmed into the fortress of the Scourge. In that time, many elves and humans had converted to the worship of Magnus. He had succeeded, he had his army of servants, and his God was pleased. Yet he had one last task before leaving the mortal realm. The Frozen Throne stood before him, he would claim its power as his own.
Only one more obstacle stood in his way, a massive army of scourge warriors lead by the mighty Crixalis, The King of Sands, a gigantic sentitent Scorpion with the power of the desert itself at its disposal. Abaddon did not fear him though, for he had the power of a God guiding him.
And so the titanic clash began, thousands fell to Frostmourne and the exposive power of the Aphotic shield. Even as all his enemies focused on him, divine power filled him, granting him temporary invincibility. Pride filled Abaddon, he was the most powerful being in this world. And so his divine powers fled from his body, for Magnus did not like his insects thinking to highly of themselves.
Seeing Abaddon weakening, Crixalis struck swiftly, swimming through the earth as if it were water, and impaling Abaddon with the massive spikes of his carapace. With the impaled Lord of Avernus before him, The Sand King began summoning the power of the earth itself, a quake so powerful that it would shatter all matter in its vicinity, and Abaddon was at the epicentre.
Abaddon in that moment new for certain that his existence would come to an end, and surrendered his soul to Magnus, desperate for salvation, knowing that only his God could save him now. As the power of Magnus flowed back into him, he remembered the gift...
Many ages ago, the priest of Magnus crafted an artifact of great power, a great, long, thick rod representing the awesome power of the penis of Magnus, as best as mortals could. Drenched with the blood of 187 virgins, the Black King Bar, as the priests referred to it, had mysterious powers. In their ancient language, the priests would proclaim "boleh jadi kuat kalau guna" a phrase no linguistic scholar had been able to translate.
How this artifact arrived in the front left pocket of Abaddon's leather pants is a mystery, though divine forces were at work here. Not knowing what else to do, Abaddon grasped the Black King Bar and held it tight, waiting for his impending death at the claws of Crixalis.
The bar pulsed and throbbed in his hand and began to grow larger, longer, thicker. So too did Abaddon. The waves of the earthquake washed harmlessly over Abaddon. Towering over the now tiny Sand King, Abaddon lashed out with Frostmourne. In one brutal stab, the lifeblood of Crixalis froze solid in his heart.
Stepping over the twitching, gurgling body of the former Sand King, Abaddon walked towards the Frozen Throne. He would be going home soon....... |
