Just read the forum about the User Group Meeting. A shocking figure in the site mention 13% of users use 72% of the bandwidth load, with the bulk of traffic expectedly coming from P2P services.
Now after reading this a lot of people will say p2p users is evil and use up most of the bandwidth. But is it true? Now let's us do a logic thinking. Can a p2p user steal others user bandwidth? When a user subscribe a 1 mbps line can he get 2 mbps line? No he can not. He can only use 1 mbps. Then how come 13% users can use up 72% of the bandwidth load? Very simple.
Imagine there is cake that is divided into 17 pieces (17GB). Then 100 people come and buy the cakes. 13 people take 13 peices away so there is only 5 pieces left for 87 people. Is it enough? of course not. Then the shopkeeper say "Just now the 13 people take 72% of the cake away! They are the thief!". Is it fare to the 13 people? of course not! They just eat what they paid. This is what happen to Tmnet now. Tmnet oversell their product. Keep on selling until they forgot they have a limitation bandwidth. When problem of slow connection, they blame the high usage users and that group of users mainly are p2p users.
I won't mind a company ban their employee to use p2p, a campus ban the students to use p2p because to the user is foc. But for the Tmnet case, that is just not fair. I paid RM88 for unlimited access, and when I use it 24/7 I be blame for using up the bandwidth. This is stupid and this is suppose to come out from a CEO of a broadband provider company. I don't know how you all feel when your p2p is running slow but my p2p is running very very slow started from tuesday and I getting very very angry. What is the right they have to stop me having what i paid for? The only right is Tmnet is monopoly the market. They can do whatever they want.
What Tmnet should do is putting the rules when customer subscribe. 1. Do not use p2p software. This service is provide mainly for surving purpose only. 2. Please do not download anything from the Internet. If you force to, please limit the download speed to 5kB. Any further than that will surely harm our bandwidth. 3. Please do not do streaming 4. make sure the surving per day is not more than 3 hours. It is harmful to your eyes if you facing the monitor more that 3 hours per day and this will give the bandwidth to others user also.

Give it a few more days, TMNet will say that if its customers don't unite and give them more money the evil chinese will take advantage of their weakened state.
What is it my momma used to say? "Stupid people make stupid excuses"

Ha ha ha
Point to note, no other countries seem to make a big fuss about p2p users. TMnet just promises more than they can deliver. Probably thought " Bah, who is going to use more than 50kbps anyway " when they advertised for the 1 MB line ...
